Abstract: An approximate analytical formula is derived based on the two theories of generalized displacements of beams to calculate contact pressure and deformation between two cylindrical beams of finite lengths. With an example of calculation, the results obtained by the new method are compared with those by the traditional method and with some experimental observations, showing that the new method is more accurate.
