Abstract: A multivalue coded genetic algorithm (MVCGA), adoptingk-order extend binary coding, is proposed for solving the problem of classic genetic algorithm (CGA), such as premature convergence and lack of diversity in the population. The new genetic algorithm can reserve the diversity of the population and reach the global optimum easily. An example verifies that MVCGA has better optimization capability than CGA.
