Abstract: Based on the characteristic of rails underthe action ofwheels of a train, a continuouswheel/rail force measurement systemwas designed, and the parameters in the formulae for calculating the vertical and horizontal forces were determined by simulation. The system was evaluated on an experimental rail line, showing a good ability to measure the vertical and horizontal forces.
