Abstract:
A new type of intelligent active-member with the functions of sensation and actuation was
designed and manufactured for the self-adaptive control of deployable structures. The performances
of displacement and force outputs of the active-member, as well as its dynamic response, were
investigated experimentally, and its displacement and force gains under different frequencies of input
voltage were obtained. The experimental results show that the active-member can be used for
eliminating joint clearance, precise positioning and suppressing structure s vibration.
