Abstract: Standard normal patterns for gear boxes were established with statistical method and by analyzing vibration signals acquired from the gear boxes with a vibration acceleration sensor. Then the threshold relevance degree between the vibration signals and the standard normal patterns was calculated. Experimental result on a wheel box shows that the calculated threshold relevance degree is a good parameter to reflect the performance of the gear box under experiment. The whole test can be conducted with the help of a computer.
