Abstract: It is helpful to set up an objective, comprehensive and applicable system to evaluate agricultural modernization, so that the real development levels of agriculture can be determined, and deficiencies can be revealed for appropriate measures to be taken. Based on the concepts and standards of agricultural modernization available worldwide, and by consultation to experts, a new model and system to evaluate agricultural modernization is proposed. The system is used to calculate the development level of agricultural modernization of Chengdu city, which is one of key cities in the western China. The results show that the value system can reflects the actual development of agriculture modernization objectively.
