To avoid approach congestion due to rapid increase of air traffic flows, reduce delays and
make fulluse of the runway capacity, schedulingmodels available in literature were simplified. The
minimum radar intervals defined by theGeneralAdministration ofCivilAviation ofChinawas taken as
the safe intervals between two aircrafts. The effect of aircraft speed on the safe interva,l estimated
arrival time and priority of an aircraftwere analyzed. A new approach scheduling model based on
earliest estimated arrival time and its algorithm was proposed. A calculation example shows that the
newmodel and its algorithm give better approach schedulingwith obvious less computation.
