A dynamic calculation model for vehicles with magnetic fluid coupled wheelsets is
established. Using numerical method, a dynamic simulation is made of the dynamic performances of
a bogie equipped with magnetic fluid coupled wheelsets, and the influences of the front and rear
magnetic fluid wheelsets on the dynamic performances of the bogie is obtained. A dynamic
performances comparison between bogies with traditional fixed wheelsets, with independently
rotating wheels, and with magnetic fluid coupled wheelsets reveals that a reasonable coupling factor
of the front and rear wheelsets of bogies can help improve the dynamic performances of bogies.
