A mechanical model and its calculation method are advanced for calculating the
variation regularity of load on the rails of the close contact section between switch point and
stock rail. Combined with the No. 12 speeding-up turnout of 60 kg/m rail in China, the
variation regularity of load on the switch is analyzed. Some effective measures, such as setting
rail cant and optimizing the top surface gradient, etc., are put forward to decrease the flexural
stress of the switch rail.
