To enhance the numerical simulation accuracy of cavity development in solution mining of
rock sal,t a calculationalmethod for the concentration difference between the saltand themain region
of cavitywas proposed by considering plume effects. The finite analytic method (FAM) was used to
solve the turbulencemodel for a plume region, and then solute diffusion and convection in the plume
region and itsneighboringmain regionwere calculated. Based on the above, amodel for concentration
of salt in the main region was set up. A calculational example shows that the numerical simulation
resultof cavity developmentobtainedwith thismethod accordswith the experimental result.
