ANSYS, a finite element program, was used to analyze three typical cross-sections for
the first stage of Shenzhen metro project, and the effects of different driving sequences and lining
methods were investigated. The calculated result shows that the construction of the second tunnel
has an effect on the constructed tunnel, the displacement and the plastic zone are different for
different driving sequences, and it is better to drive the upper tunnel when the lower one has been
driven. In addition, simultaneous lining is helpful for the control of surface subsidence
